Operation Provide Classroom Comfort
During Operation Iraqi Freedom, “Operation: Provide Classroom Comfort” (OPCC) was initiated by CPT Mark Sherkey’s Field Artillery battery (C/1-377 th FA) in Mosul, Iraq (2003-2004). His unit, like many others, utilized the elements of soft power to create humanitarian connections between the Iraqis and the Americans.

We believe that it is through women and children that we shape the world, and in order to accomplish this mission we must provide those in need with a path, a means of freedom from hardship and means to escape current living conditions entrenched in hopelessness and despair.

Pathways of Service CEO Mark Sherkey and CIO Krista Emmett met with faculty members and student project leaders at Westfield High School in Chantilly, Virginia on December 15, 2006  to congratulate the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) students on their successful school supply collection drive for Operation Provide Safe Harbor.

Trip to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia by host

Pathways of Service - President, Mark Sherkey, traveled to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 11-13 January 2007 as part of a Congressional delegation trip to the Horn of Africa. The delegation met with US, UN, African Union, and Ethiopian officials to discuss their recent actions in Somalia and to discuss their domestic and regional needs. During this visit the delegation met with the US Ambassador to the African Union (AU), Dr. Cindy Courville.   During several meetings with the Ambassador it was very obvious that not enough is being done to provide humanitarian assistance to this region of the world.
